We will update our clients whenever court dates are rescheduled, or whenever anything substantive occurs on your case. You may also contact us anytime you have questions or would like an update on your case. Are courts of law still open in my area? Will my court date be rescheduled? What if I can’t come to court because I’m sick or quarantined?
Our San Diego Courts are currently scheduled to be closed to the public until May 26. However, the Court is currently handling a very limited calendar for emergency matters and has begun hearing some criminal matters as well as some other types of hearings via videoconferencing and will gradually be adding more types of hearings to their calendar. Almost all court hearings are being rescheduled and we will notify clients of their new court dates once the Courts calendar new dates for their cases. If you cannot come to Court because you are sick or quarantined we can appear on your behalf in most cases without your appearance being necessary, or we can request a continuance to a future date in cases where your appearance is necessary. What if I have something due to the Court during the closures such as public work service, community service, classes or other court ordered requirements in my case?
The Court is currently automatically extending completion dates for court ordered requirements for all cases that have due dates that have been affected by the closures as they are well aware that many court ordered programs are unable to operate at this time making it impossible to comply with these requirements, as well as the safety concerns.
